Safe Celebrations for Goldens

Kasey Crabtree |

HOLIDAY HAZARDS & TRAVEL PREP

The holidays bring food toxins and disrupted routines.

- Dangerous foods (chocolate, xylitol, grapes, fatty leftovers).

- Electrical cords, ribbons, candles—common ER visits (ASPCA Poison Control data).

- Travel checklist: vaccination records, ID tag, collapsible bowls, familiar blanket.

- Calm travel tips: regular breaks, hydration, and never leaving dogs in cold cars (AVMA winter travel safety).

ANTIFREEZE, ICE-MELT & TOXIC WINTER

HAZARDS

Antifreeze (ethylene glycol) poisoning peaks in winter; only teaspoons can be fatal. Ice-melts may irritate paws or be toxic if licked.

- Safe de-icing alternatives (calcium magnesium acetate, sand).

- Immediate steps if ingestion suspected—get to a vet fast; don’t wait for symptoms (Merck Vet Manual).

- Reminder to store automotive fluids securely; clean spills right away.

At Ivory & Pine Goldens, we believe a safe home is the foundation of a golden life. With a

little prevention — and a watchful eye — your winter memories can stay warm, bright, and

worry-free.
